botox aftercare

advice from Doctor Kate

Following the injections it is important to use the treated muscles as much as possible (i.e. frown, squint or raise the eyebrows depending on the area injected) for the next few hours. This helps to maximise the effect of the Botox.

For 6 hours after the injections you should avoid heavy exercise and alcohol as these can increase blood flow and may dilute the effect. You should also avoid rubbing the area or applying pressure, and do not use make-up for the same period of time. You should avoid lying down flat for 6 hours.

Wrinkles usually begin to disappear after 3 or 4 days, but may take up to 14 days for the full effects to become apparent.

Occasionally a mild drooping of the eyelid can occur, but this is very rare. In the unlikely event that it does happen, please contact me, or Nurse Sue, so we can make an assessment.

On average, the results last 3 to 4 months after the first injection, but repeat treatments often lead to longer-lasting effects.

After 10 – 14 days, if you have any questions or concerns, please book a review appointment. A top-up may be needed after 2, maximum 3 weeks to get the bespoke results for each individual patient. There are no additional costs if a top-up is required within the first 3 weeks following treatment.
